ভোরের কুয়াশা সূর্যকে ঢেকে দিতে পারে;

অথবা দিন শেষ হওয়ার আগে পাহাড়কে মুকুটে সাজাতে পারে;

গভীর মাটিতে আমরা যে বীজ বপন করি;

সারা বিশ্ব যখন ঘুমে, তখন তারা জেগে উঠতে পারে;

চেনা পথে হঠাৎ আসা কোনো মোড়;

শ্রাবণের বৃষ্টির মতো ঝরে পড়া শব্দগুলো;

হয়তো কোনো হৃদয় সারিয়ে দেবে কিংবা লুকানো ব্যথা কমাবে;

নিজেদের করা পরিকল্পনার শান্ত আলোয়;

কখন সাধারণ রূপালি রঙ খাঁটি সোনায় পরিণত হয়;

বাতাস দিক বদলাতে পারে আর জোয়ার বইতে পারে;

*The Unseen Pulse*

The morning fog could be hiding the sun you never know,

It could be crowning the hills before the day is over you never know.

The seeds we plant in soil you never know

Might start to bloom while the world is still asleep you never know.

A quick turn, on a street that feels familiar you never know

Could take you to the person you were always meant to find you never know.

The words that come down like rain in the summer you never know

Might fix a heart or take away a secret pain you never know.

We have the map. The ink will start to fade you never know,

In the light of the plans we have made you never know.

For the story is still waiting to be written you never know,

As the silver starts to turn into solid gold you never know.

The wind could change and the tides could move you never know

How far one single dream can take you—

You never know.

সারা রাত শহরের বুকে চলেছিল উন্মত্ত মাতন;

এখন শান্ত রাজপথ, ভেজা পিচ ঢালা কালো বুক;

আকাশের নীল আজ বড্ড বেশি স্বচ্ছ আর গভীর;

বটবৃক্ষের পাতা থেকে টুপটুপ ঝরে বারিধারা;

পুরনো বাড়ির কার্নিশে বসে শালিকেরা ডানা ঝাড়ে;

ক্লান্ত ঝোড়ো হাওয়া এখন মিঠে এক দখিনা পবন;

ভাঙার শব্দ থেমেছে, এবার গড়ার গান গাওয়ার পালা;

The Baishakhi Light: City After the Storm

The city was really going wild all night it was like a dance;

The city endured this dance all night.

When the lightning flashed and the thunder made a noise the city woke up from its sleepy state;

The strong winds were blowing hard and they were tearing through the strong branches of the trees.

The city was getting. Cleaned as the winds and rains were fulfilling the earths silent promises;

Now the streets of the city are very calm. The roads are wet and dark.

The city finds an energy, amidst all the fallen leaves that are lying on the streets and roads;

The sky looks like an ocean today it is very clear and deep.

The city and the world are waking up from their sleep as the sun is shining brightly in the cloudless sky;

Water is falling from the banyan tree in a rhythmic way,

The golden sun rays are. Everything is looking new and fresh now.

The mynas birds are sitting on the buildings and they are cleaning and shaking their wings;

The city is waking up like a baby and the morning light is singing a happy song,

The strong winds have become an gentle breeze that is blowing from the south.

The Baishakhi season has made the city feel happy;

It has removed all the darkness and sadness,

The sounds of destruction are gone now,

It is time for the city to start building and growing again.

The city is looking happy and bright as it is wearing a crown

of light and all the dirt and stain are gone.

The Rain of a Chaitra Night

The Rain of a Chaitra Night

A city that is softly buzzing reaching out toward a sky that has woken up

The drought was burning the heart of the *Chatak* bird;

Today a strange heavy rain has fallen.

Cool drops of water fall touching the window bars,

Old memories come back—so many and so deep;

The wet desire of the *Bakul* grove comes with the wind,

It hides its face in the grass and the earth talks.

This wild Chaitra rain falls on the heart,

The fighting of a day stops in a moment;

A chain of shiny words flows from the edge of the roof,

Washing, away the burning heat of the day.

The smell of the earth brings a missing feeling from days ago;

This rainy Chaitra night gives comfort to the soul.

The Ballad of a Crimson Spring

বাতাসে ভাসে এক গভীর হাহাকার;

সেদিন রাজপথ ভিজেছিল যে তপ্ত রক্তে;

বর্ণমালাদের মিছিল নামে নিস্তব্ধ রাতে;

একুশ মানে তো কেবল একটি তারিখ নয়;

At the first hour of the twenty-first, on a Spring day,

When stars keep a somber vigil in the sky’s array—

A deep lament floats upon the silent breeze,

Seeking to wash away the shadows with solemn ease.

In this dawn, where Palash and Shimul bloom in red,

A mother’s tears flow for the son who is dead.

That day, the streets were drenched in heat and blood,

As seeds of freedom were sown in a crimson flood.

Deep within the soul, a strange resonance rings,

The Monument of Memory wakes where spirit clings.

A procession of alphabets descends in the quiet night,

As we march toward the eternal, everlasting light.

The Twenty-First is not merely a date on the leaf,

It is the unyielding triumph over sorrow and grief.

A sacred name inscribed in the martyrs' gore—

In the heart of the Bengali, it lives forevermore.

Today, In This City of Spring

In this city, the hot pitch doesn't echo with the sound of falling silk cotton flowers,

Here, Spring arrives through the windows of buses stuck at traffic signals.

When sweat beads on the forehead under the dusty sun,

A stray southern breeze reminds me—today is the first day of Falgun.

No Palash blooms here; instead, colorful billboards of advertisements rise,

The layer of grey dust on the leaves is deeper than the green.

The songs of Spring here are private, hidden behind headphones,

In the parade of people pushing through the crowd, everyone is so alone, so restless.

A couple might find a fleeting King of Seasons by lowering a rickshaw's hood,

Yet on the sidewalk nearby, the struggle for survival blends into steaming cups of tea.

In this concrete jungle, Spring means a handful of sighs,

A defiant attempt to live anew, brushing away the skeletons of old memories.

I stand at the junction of this mechanical life—

Where Spring is not just a festival, but a search for a little color amidst the grey.

Today, in this city of Spring, I am a nomadic traveler,

Returning with a pocketful of sunshine and a heart full of urbanization.

The Fog-Draped City

শহরটা তখন এক বিশাল সাদা ক্যানভাস;

কুয়াশার গ্রাসে তার তেজ হারিয়েছে আজ;

মিশে যায় একাকার ধূসর আস্তরণে;

অদৃশ্য গন্তব্যে ছুটে চলা কিছু যান্ত্রিক প্রাণ;

শুরু হবে সেই চেনা কোলাহল আর রেষারেষি;

The Fog-Draped City

 As the dawn call to prayer fades into the mist,

 The city turns into a vast, white canvas;

Familiar lampposts stand in quiet solitude,

Like mythical figures who have lost their way.

The concrete jungle is strangely calm today,

The traffic signals at the busy intersections—

Have lost their glow within the fog’s embrace;

The amber light flickers like a lingering sigh.

The torn quilt of a man sleeping on the pavement,

And the steam rising from the roadside tea stall—

They all merge into the thick, grey layers;

Here, even familiar faces feel like strangers,

like shifting shadows.

Tires roll slowly over the pitch-black roads,

Mechanical souls rushing toward invisible destinations;

The city doesn’t disappear, it only plays hide-and-seek—

A thousand untold heartaches stay hidden behind the veil.

When the sun rises, everything will sparkle again,

The usual chaos and the rat race will return;

Yet for these few moments, the city is hauntingly beautiful—

A reality dressed in the magic of the mist.
